Howard University's Distributed Systems Research Group (DSRG) is concerned with distributed software/hardware systems: their development, their use, and the principles underlying both. Members of HU's distributed systems group conduct research in the areas of operating systems, database, security, performance evaluation, computer architecture, parallel processing, multimedia, and computer networking.

DSRG partners with the Howard University Medical School NIH-RCMI Group to conduct the parallelization of Molecular Dynamics Code on Loosely Couple Distributed Systems.
DSRG is a Co-PI of a HU Mordeci Johnson research grant to develop Advanced Knowledge Acquisition and Dissemination System (AKADS).
DSRG is a Co-PI of a HU Mordeci Johnson research grant to develop a smart-card based electronic medical record system.
DSRG wins DARPA research grant to transition the ENCOMPASS distributed BioWarfare and Chemical Warfare Defense Systems to D.C. Emergency Management Agency (DCEMA).

DSRG wins research grant from Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab (APL) to develop an interactive web site to display trajectory data for the Mecury Space Orbiter MESSENGER; scheduled to launch in 2004.
